La Maison rose
Opposite the Hérissonnière, the gîte occupies a large 19th century bourgeois house with lightly fired bricks that have retained their beautiful ochre-pink colour. It is surrounded by large private grounds planted with shrubs and apple trees arranged in a circle on the outskirts and a small priest’s garden. A country house in the countryside, it provides all the necessary tranquillity without excessive isolation.
It has been restored with the aim of combining modern comfort with the mark of a certain originality through its decoration and furniture: bathrooms and kitchen are decorated with authentic hand painted Portuguese “Azulejos” representing floral or landscape motifs.
The furniture is as old as the real hairdresser’s furniture, the revisited dressing tables, the painted wooden cylinder desk, the Indonesian panels placed at the headboard, the Lorraine farm valet’s chest, the polychrome Alsatian hosiery dated 1830 which belonged to Simone de Beauvoir’s sister, or the very curious Alsatian vine wood armchair, the work of a companion.

- One bedroom with two single beds 90×200, private bathroom with bathtub and separate toilet.
- Dining room with its fireplace-insert, a living room and a kitchen.
- WC – laundry room.
- On the first floor :
- A large bedroom, with two 90×200 single beds, private bathroom with shower and separate toilet.
- Two medium size bedrooms, bed 160×200, each equipped with a separate bathroom including shower and WC.
- On the second floor (by a miller’s staircase):
- Children’s room (6 single beds) without WC or bathroom.
